Do Not Paint Your House in Tampa Without Reading This

FOR IMMEDIATE Release

(Newswire.net–July 11, 2013) Wesley Chapel—Tampa Bay is generally an even keel climate for most activities such as sports and being outdoors, however when it comes to house painting, the weather can be tricky and requires a good knowledge of weather factors that can impact the outcome of a job.  Moisture can manifest itself in many ways. For instance, rain is not humidity.  Humidity does not affect painting, particularly outdoor jobs.  Rain however does and can determine how paint adheres to the painted surfaces as well as drying effects.

Advanced knowledge of weather patterns like rain forecasts are vital when planning a paint job for both the contractor as well as the homeowner or client.  Leaving ample time for drying properly immediately can impact the look and overall quality of a professional paint job.

Temperature also is a major element of the weather that a painter needs to understand.  Demographics of painting are clearly apparent when dealing with northern versus southern locations.  Even in the south, Tampa Bay for instance occasionally dips below freezing in the winter months.  The critical cutoff for acceptable temperature for proper painting outdoors is about 50 degrees.  Paints are a chemical composite that like anything else, either maintain or change their chemical properties and composition with temperature.

Tampa Bay also has the added element of constant humidity because of its location on the Gulf of Mexico.  Moisture is always present and rainy seasons that generally crop up in the June and July months affect job planning.  Weather in these summer months can change rapidly typically accompanied by thunderstorms and torrential downpours.  A painting job underway can be wasted or ruined if not properly forecasted with such weather issues looming.

What happens then if such a weather occurrence takes place?   Try getting a homeowner or paying client to agree to sign a “weather clause” as a disclaimer for an “act of God” and the painting industry can be revolutionized.  The long and the short of it is that “painter beware” is what painting contractors must know and that it is ultimately up to them to carefully plan their work for their clients.
