A first of its kind, the Safe-T-Pinch Valve promises to be a fail-safe, wear-resistant alternative to traditional pinch valve units used for blasting procedure, which are created with single pinch rams.
Single –Ram Pinch Valve Arrangement and Flaws
Created as an open-type system, conventional single pinch valves have no built-in compression spring for closing the pinch ram. It relies on a pilot air source to halt the blasting procedure. Further, only one side of the hose has a pinch zone, and unless attached securely to a surface, the unit remains vertically aligned and prone to instability.
This structure of traditional single-ram pinch valves presents a number of disadvantages. One, in the event of pilot air signal interruption or malfunction, the pinch valve opens, which leads to the beginning of the blasting sequence. This scenario creates a potential hazard for the person operating the machinery as well as employees on-site.
Two, because of the placement of the pinch zone on the hose, the traditional pinch valve’s hose is more prone to wear-and-tear. As a whole, such units present greater chances of accidents, bigger costs and shorter lifespan.
Benefits of the Dual Ram Safe-T-Pinch Valve
For over 50 years however, the structure of traditional pinch valves have remained the same, which meant that the percentage of accidents and costs of running such equipment in the blasting area has also remained relatively unchanged.

Improved safety. Using a closed type system, the dual rams automatically close in case of interruptions or failures in the pilot air source. In addition, the pinch ram chamber is encased. These arrangements keep the abrasive blasting procedure and any premature blast hose incidents isolated, thus significantly lessening potential injury to the operator as well as workers within the vicinity.
Precision, better resilience to wear and tear, longer lifespan. The Safe-T-Pinch Valve comes with two internal safety spring rams which evenly distributes wear on either side of the hose, making the hose longer-lasting. Further, there is a measurement scale in the bottom mounting plate, which does not only render precision, but also helps slow down any wear on the internal and external blast hose walls.
Lastly, the entire system is nickel-plated and black powder-coated to ensure greater resistance against corrosion.
Enhanced design and physical stability. The Safe-T-Pinch sports a compact 5.8-inch horizontal make, making it more stable than vertical units. There is also a detachable guide located above the pinch ram chamber for easy access during blast hose inspections.
Better performance. The blast hose have guiding rods that can accommodate No.3 couplings and allow them to go directly inside the pinch ram enclosure, without having to remove the couplings.
