( — August 17, 2013) Denver, CO — A compilation of 99 surprisingly delicious and believably nutritious recipes, Superfood Genius, a cookbook published last fall by Little Pearl Publishing, has become a mainstay in kitchens worldwide thanks to Amazon’s popular KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) program.  Already a bestseller in several competitive categories, including vegetarian slow cooker recipes, on the mega-retailer’s site, Superfood Genius is gearing up for its second round of promotions, beginning today with free downloads for all Kindle readers or those savvy enough to have downloaded the free Kindle app to their computer or phone.

Levitt, a “registered nutritionist and self-proclaimed master chef”, takes readers through an exotic array of “superfood” recipes, which means all of the recipes are vegan (no-meat, no-dairy, no-eggs) and many are raw.  Each recipe contains one, if not several, “superfoods” – foods that have been deemed abnormally healthy with seemingly magical abilities to heal illnesses, prevent diseases, help people lose weight, gain more energy, etc.  Some of those superfoods include well-known grocery store favorites like blueberries, bananas, and spinach, while others are far more foreign (which makes them all the more fun to cook with) like hemp, chia seeds, buckwheat, and quinoa.

Superfood Genius is an obvious labor of love for Levitt, combining his two favorite passions: nutrition and cooking.  Going above and beyond what is expected of most cookbooks, Levitt labels the superfoods in each recipe, referring the reader (or if using a Kindle taking the reader directly to) the index of superfoods at the back of the book, which is complete with an explanation of exactly why that food is “super”.

For a book whose primary focus is to promote health and well being, the recipes are surprisingly appetizing and easy to make.  Covering each meal of the day as well as desserts, Superfood Genius shows readers that being healthy and loving food can go hand in hand.
