(Newswire.net — September 26, 2013) LOS ANGELES, CA — GoPro and Cam Caddie have joined the International Skateboard Film Festival as sponsors for this year’s program for young up and coming filmmakers in the Filmmaker’s Challenge 2013. GoPro and Cam Caddie create the ultimate filming rig. The GoPro Camera systems fit hand in hand with Cam Caddie’s stabilizer to allow for stealth filming of the high impact, intense action in the world of Skateboarding.

The International Skateboard Film Festival is to be held in Los Angles California, November 8-10, 2013.   This year; ISFF, GoPro, maker of the world’s most versatile camera, together with CamCaddie.com, maker of the Best Camera handle will support a committee selected panel of ten filmmakers from around the world.  These filmmakers include past ISFF winners and world-class skate videographers who will compete in the Challenge.  The Challenge requires them to make a short film of three to eight minutes in length, on any subject related to skateboarding.  All contestants will be given a GoPro Hero3 camera and a Cam Caddie’s Scorpion stabilizing tool, and related equipment to use during the challenge. The Hero3 camera is the only camera the filmmakers can use.

The filmmakers invited to the Challenge are:

Craig R. Stecyk III (USA) , James Holman & Alex Pasquini (New Zealand), Sebastien Abes (France),Evan Bowman (USA), Philip Evans (Ireland) Russell Houghten (USA), Ryan Dearth (USA), Takahiro Morita (Japan), Josh Stewart (USA), Felipe Lima (Brazil) Blake Johnston (USA)

Daniel McElderry, founder of Cam Caddie stated, “We are really excited to partner with GoPro and to launch of the first ever ISFF + GoPro Filmmaker Challenge 2013. Our Scorpion product has been instrumental in helping videographers transition away from the one and only camera that was used to film skateboarding for over a decade. The Sony VX 1000 & 2100 with a Century Optics Fisheye has always been considered the go to camera for skate videos.  But in the past few years as High Definition “HD” has become the standard, the Sony VX is now moving out of favor with the Filmmakers and they are using a wide variety of different cameras.  This is where the GoPro has been instrumental in opening up the door to new and young filmmakers. Now for a few hundred dollars you can create skate footage that has a similar look and feel that people expect to see without spending thousands of dollars on a camera and lens.”

A panel of judges from the Academy of Skateboard Filmmakers, along with a few invited guest judges, will select the winner based on originality, execution, editing, and complete usage of the GoPro HERO3 Black Edition. Three winners will be recognized and awarded at the ISFF Awards Ceremony in November in Los Angeles. Winners will receive a cash prize of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 for first, second and third place, respectively.
