(Newswire.net — October 19, 2013) Flower Mound, Texas — If you don’t know what local marketing is, you will soon. This year, in Denver, Colorado, some of the most successful local marketers in the business met for three days in what was called a Local Marketing Summit Mastermind. Packed with some of the top local marketing agencies and professionals in the business, speakers gave presentations on various topics from mobile marketing to search engine optimization and more.

Local marketing is similar to being in your local phone book but on Google. If done well, when someone searches for a business, such as a best best cosemtic dentist dentist, Google delivers the most relevant content in the searchers local market. So for example, if you were searching in the Dallas, Texas area, Google uses your local setting to know which market you are in and then deliver you the top cosmetic dentists in their geographical area.

In an interview with Krysti Mikkonen, an internet marketing specialist from South Dakota, we asked what prompted her to travel to the event and spend her time and money learning about local internet marketing. Mikkonen explained, “In our industry, if you’re not staying on top of the constantly changing trends in the digital world, I can’t provide the best service to my customers.” She went on to say, “Like any industry, it’s important to network with people who have achieved success.  This Summit brought some of the best in internet marketing specialists from around the world allowing me to glean ideas and learn from their successes and failures and share mine.” Attendees traveled from as far as Australia to attend the even, which is the first of what is hoped to be an annual event.

As we interviewed attendees, it became apparent the the knowledge, skills and products offered by their businesses varies. However, all of them were focused on local internet marketing. “I rank my clients on page one of Google using videos. Video marketing is in it’s infancy and I wanted to learn as many tips and tricks as possible, so I can continually provide my clients high-end services,” said Daniel Jones, owner of OnlineYeti.com, a local internet marketing provider that offers mobile and video marketing for clients looking to move up in search rankings.

Business owners looking for new customers are now seeking professionals that can assist them with their online footprint. Although mainstream America may not know anything about what happens behind the seams, they are experiencing the results of online marketing every time they search for something on Google. Michael Taggart, owner of Adventure Marketing, a highly successful company in the online marketing educational space, summed it up “As long as people need online services, online marketing professionals will continue to need people like us to be on the cutting edge and then teach them the tips and tricks to grow their businesses.”

The convention was help at the Westin Westminister in Denver, Colorado and was jam packed with three days of training, talks and tips. This was an industry first, assembling some of the greatest and most prolific online marketers under one roof.
