Twitter Block Feature Tweak Causes Uproar among Users

(Newswire.net — December 27, 2013) Miami, Florida — The change Twitter made to its “block” feature resulted in an uproar among users. The tweak, which was about the extent of blocking Twitter followers, has been reversed immediately after users expressed their dislike.

The block feature enables a user to block another person from following or sending you messages. A person who has been blocked will know it because they cannot follow a specific person. The change made by Twitter enabled a user you had blocked to still become one of your Twitter followers or reply to your messages. Essentially, the tweak just allowed the user who blocked you to stop seeing the messages in their timeline.

After the feature tweak was made, it didn’t take long for users to start expressing their dismay. The hashtag #RestoreTheBlock has been widely used.

After recognizing their users dislike of the change, Twitter support quickly reverted back to the previous blocking feature.

“We have decided to revert the change after receiving feedback from many users — we never want to introduce features at the cost of users feeling less safe,” Twitter’s VP of Product Michael Sippey said in a blog post.

He also said that their company will continue to explore Twitter tools and features designed to protect users from abuse and prevent retaliation.

There are plenty of Twitter support programs available these days. Most programs out there basically teach users how to get Twitter followers.  Many people believe that by getting more twitter followers, you can earn money. The fact is, you do not really make money by getting followers. There is something more to that.
