Marshall explained that he had gone to the Dominican Republic on vacation. He was loosing a battle with an illness he got while in Viet Nam back in 1971-2 in the Navy. He was feeling bad. He found these Haitian children going to bed hungry so he fed a few and found he liked it. He felt he needed to help these kids to get an education after he found many of them were unable to read. He started a school in June 1 2011 with 13 students and now there are 28 . They are provided 3 meals a day 5 days a week.
Marshall feels that the kids grow so fast and he wants his school to grow and have more students. He believes that the only way to get out of poverty is through education. It is had to teach the hungry he said. So a feeding program was implemented within the school.
