(Newswire.net — December 28, 2013)  — I this world there are some who are impelled to love and care for those less fortunate. Marshal Jones is one of those. In his interview last Friday night on Hope Mountain Radio`s show “The Spaceman” Marshal Jones of the Dominican Republic`s Montellano Sunshine School stated he was tired of fighting his own battles and decided to fight some other fight. Traveling in the Dominican Republic he found some  kids and they needed someone to help them fight for their lives just like he was doing for himself after a long illness. So now they fight together.

Marshall explained that he had gone to the Dominican Republic on vacation. He was loosing a battle with an illness he got while in Viet Nam back in 1971-2 in the Navy. He was feeling bad. He found these Haitian children going to bed hungry so he fed a few and found he liked it. He felt he needed to help these kids to get an education after he found many of them were unable to read. He started a school in June 1 2011 with 13 students and now there are 28 . They are provided 3 meals a day 5 days a week.

Marshall feels that the kids grow so fast and he wants his school to grow and have more students. He believes that the only way to get out of poverty is through education. It is had to teach the hungry he said. So a feeding program was implemented within the school.

Marshall rented a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen and bathroom. The children are fed breakfast 7:30 am. School starts at 8 am. The children and staff get lunch at noon. School then continues from noon until 2:30. Marshal felt that this way the children will get a balanced diet so they can learn.

It was yet another informative Friday night from Leo Goodman “The Spaceman” owner and founder of Hope Mountain Radio His show begins about 8 pm Friday night and goes until around 2 in the morning. The show is then rebroadcast Monday morning about 9 am . Leo is the owner and founder of Hope Mountain Radio  which has been been broadcasting on the internet since June of 2006 and over the airwaves to a local audience for many years before.
