Is tiny Etters (in York County), Pennsylvania, big enough for the new YoFresh Yogurt Café that recently opened (February 21) at the Newberry Commons Shopping Center (112 Newberry Parkway) next to Walmart?

The gigantic selection of yogurt flavors and the huge number of toppings to choose from are a few of the reasons that franchisees Alex and Irina Ryabukha, who live in Manchester, chose to go with the YoFresh brand. They estimate that each of Etters’ 950 Etters residents could enjoy a different flavor-toppings combination without repeating one. The price is 43 cents per ounce, less than most other yogurt shops.

The entrepreneurial Ryabukhas wanted to invest in an exciting, fun food franchise. “We focused on yogurt because it’s so healthy and nutritious,” Alex says. Yogurt is rich in protein, calcium, riboflavin, vitamins B6 and B12. Its active cultures may discourage infections, promote digestive health and help fill you up. “We chose YoFresh because we like the way the franchise is run (www.yofreshyogurtcafe.com) .”

Among big yogurt fans are Oprah Winfrey who says it “energizes and revives,” calling it a favorite “brain food.” Dr. Mehmet Oz has referred to yogurt as his “#1 super snack.” Alex adds, “We located next to a gym because many fitness fanatics are also big yogurt fans. We’ve built an inviting place, perfect before or after a workout or a trip to Walmart.”

At any given time, there are 18 yogurt flavors to choose from and some 50 toppings including nuts, fruit and candies. The selection is called ‘lots’o toppings.’ The menu also features smoothies. In             season, Alex plans to buy fresh fruit from local farms. Ingredients are all natural, low cholesterol, fat free, kosher-certified and most are gluten-free. Unlike most other shops, Alex is offering fresh-baked waffle cones daily.

Although there are several other frozen yogurt shops in York County, the closest one is about 7 miles away. But Alex points out, “We will strive to be #1, the destination for healthful meals, snacks and desserts for any age.” The YoFresh shop was designed to be inviting and relaxed.

YoFresh founder and CEO Chris Gregoris says, ““Right now we have 7 stores open and 4 planned in Pennsylvania.  We welcome the Ryabukhas to the YoFresh family. We’re on a dramatic growth curve, with stores in 10 states. New territories are available. We welcome inquiries from entrepreneurs interested in getting into the healthy, fun and lucrative frozen yogurt industry.”
