Fukushima Leaking Radiation 3 Years Later

(Newswire.net — March 14, 2014) Orlando, FL. — Japan’s radioactive water in their damaged nuclear power plant is the biggest environmental problem still haunting the world 3 years after the disaster happened. The Fukushima plant chief Akira Ono was quoted as stating, “The most pressing issue for us is the contaminated water, rather than decommissioning, unless we resolve the problem, fear of the society continues and the evacuees cannot return home.” The Fukushima radiation contaminated water has been continuously leaking from the crippled nuclear power plants storage tanks ever since the disaster in March of 2011.

This nuclear disaster is the world’s worst atomic accident since the 1986 Chernobyl incident. The wiki explains, “The Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission found the nuclear disaster was “manmade” and that its direct causes were all foreseeable. The report also found that the plant was incapable of withstanding the earthquake and tsunami. TEPCO, regulators Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) and NSC and the government body promoting the nuclear power industry (METI), all failed to meet the most basic safety requirements, such as assessing the probability of damage, preparing for containing collateral damage from such a disaster, and developing evacuation plans. A separate study by Stanford researchers found that Japanese plants operated by the largest utility companies were particularly unprotected against potential tsunamis.”

Bill Dedman wrote for NBC, “In the tense days after a powerful earthquake and tsunami crippled the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan on March 11, 2011, staff at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission made a concerted effort to play down the risk of earthquakes and tsunamis to America’s aging nuclear plants.” The Freedom of Information Act obtained emails showing that the public was being reassured that America’s aging nuclear industry created no concern for Americans. This propaganda campaign began because of the questioning of U.S. safety standards on whether new regulations should be in place since the Japanese plant meltdown created radiation leakage safety concerns. These emails disclosed numerous examples of concealment immediately after the Fukushima nuclear meltdown caused by the 50 foot tsunami which knocked out the power and cooling systems which caused the radioactive material to be released into the environment. Americans discovered from the NBC reports this week that after thousands of internal NRC emails were analyzed evidence was found proving nuclear regulators went out of their way to keep Fukushima meltdown facts out of the public eye.  Fearing negative public sentiment towards nuclear power’s “revival” authorities and governments have deliberately covered up radiation leakages, discoveries of radioactive goods made in Japan, and have raised “safe” radiation dose levels over fear of public concern towards a “Made in Japan” syndrome. Worse yet is the fact that NRC officials deliberately whitewashed the disaster, and tried to bury the fact that at least 30 American nuclear power reactors that are currently in operation in the U.S. are the exact same brand as the damaged Fukushima reactors which are still pouring radiation into the atmosphere. Many of these plants have been in operation since the 1970’s.

Radiation fallout from Fukushima is expected to hit American coastlines within the month Time.com published in their March 9, 2014 news report titled “Low-Level Fukushima Radiation Set To Hit West Coast,” raising the question who wants even low level radiation hitting America’s shoreline?
