Scott Tucker recently announced plans to import fresh coconuts to Galveston, Texas to sell through vendors during the town’s summer tourist season. According to Tucker, most coconuts available in the United States are brown, dried coconuts, or packaged coconut water.
“There is a serious lack of fresh green coconuts in the United States,” says Scott Tucker. “My plan is to introduce people vacationing in Galveston to the delicious coconut water that people drink in the tropics. People don’t know what they’re missing, fresh coconut water is one of the most refreshing things on earth. Plus, it just feels refreshing for someone to hand you an ice cold coconut with a straw sticking out of it when you’re enjoying a hot, sweaty day on the boardwalk.”
Tucker reports that he considered retailing the coconuts directly through his own storefront on the boardwalk, but after consideration he decided to become a supplier to existing boardwalk vendors.
“Soft drink companies aren’t opening up their own stores, they partner with retailers to have their products placed in optimal locations for making sales,” comments Scott Tucker. “I realized that that is the way that I want to do business. There are tons of great vendors already serving vacationers in the town. I can offer them a high-quality unique product that differentiates their establishment, and they streamline the sales process for me.”
According to Tucker, several partnerships with boardwalk vendors are already in the works, and exact information about who will be selling the imported fresh coconuts will be announced when plans are finalized.
The projected date for Scott Tucker to begin importing green coconuts into Galveston is in June of this year, in time for the busy summer tourist season. Tucker says that he has no plans to import the fruit all year.
