i3 Solutions Inc., a two-time award-winner for best-in-class healthcare solutions today is pleased to announce that their European partner, Dot by Dot Business and Technology Solutions has been selected by the General Hospital Papageorgiou in Thessaloniki-Greece to implement Panacea™ a state-of-the-art patient bedside entertainment and education platform delivered as a hosted service through Microsoft Windows 8 devices and available on demand through a simple and intuitive web interface.

Panacea is a flexible patient bedside terminal experience, delivering a wide range of services to improve the patient’s hospital stay through entertainment, communication and education. Delivered on clinical-grade Windows 8 devices, the solution provides patients with the ability to quickly self-serve hospital information, patient education, games, books, music and radio, television and movies, telephone, speed dials, nurse and staff call, internet and messaging, surveys, reports and other features. In addition, the solution will utilize smart card technology location based mobility engines as well as integrate to existing administration and medical information technology systems. A patient-centric approach, user friendly environment, extensibility and information security standards were part of the criteria that saw Panacea selected for this important project –helping the public health care system in Greece evolve to a new digital era.

This award falls under the hospital’s “Information value-added services for patients and personnel of the Papageorgiou General Hospital of Thessaloniki” project which has a total budget allocated of EUR 1,219,474 including VAT. Co-funded by the Greek Government and the European Union of this project was awarded to Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A (OTE) in January 2014 and includes a variety of work packages such as high speed wired and wireless network infrastructure, IP telephony, RFID Tags Assets’ Monitoring System and Integrated Bedside Terminals for 165 beds in various clinics.
