(Newswire.net — May 19, 2014) Franklin, Tennessee — The Tennessee Soccer Club held its annual tournament, The Tennessee Invitational, last weekend, May 9th-11th, in Franklin, TN. Boys and girls, ages 8 through 18 competed on the Williamson County Soccer Complex on Downs Boulevard.

The Tennessee Invitational is an annual event for all teams from Premier to Select levels. Eligible teams came from the Southeast region as well as surrounding Midwestern states. The event hosted over 250 teams most of which were state champions and finalists.

In order to successfully host such an enormous event, The Tennessee Soccer Club needed assistance from local businesses such as OI Furniture and Franklin Stone. Jimmy Drain, Tennessee Soccer Club’s Tournament Director definitely appreciated the generosity of these businesses.

“Between Franklin Stone moving the goals and OI supplying furniture, we could not have done the event without them,” said Drain. “Franklin Stone lent us their truck. OI supplied chairs, tables, rolling carts, and the stage we used for the awards ceremony. Saturday afternoon John (John Harvey: Owner of Franklin Stone and OI Furniture) dropped everything and moved 8 soccer goals from the Williamson County Rec Center to the Downs Soccer Complex. These companies have helped us and gone beyond expectations since we started.”

The Tennessee Soccer Club was founded by the merger of Tennessee Futbol Club (founded in 1999) and Brentwood Soccer Club (founded in 1985) and became an official club in June 2012. Operating under the auspices of the Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA, an affiliate of the United States Youth Soccer Association – USYSA), the Tennessee Soccer Club administers a select soccer program, which provides a format for the youth player wishing to receive advanced soccer training and competition. Through participation in the Tennessee Soccer Club, players are given the opportunity to improve their individual and team soccer skills, compete against other skilled players, become eligible for the state, regional, and national Olympic Development Programs (ODP), and improve their chances of playing for their middle school, high school, and college soccer teams.

The Tennessee Soccer Club consists of around 120 boys and girls teams in single-age groups ranging from “Under-8” to “Under-18” years of age. The Tennessee Soccer Club is an independent non-profit organization run by its Board of Directors.

As far as Jimmy Drain is concerned, OI Furniture and Franklin Stone’s aid will absolutely be requested and 100% appreciated next year.
