Perhaps the genesis of the Olympic Games dating back to 1896 was where this sprouted however athletic competition existed well before there was the formal Olympics.  Sports has existed as a means of mirroring life and a means for people to “battle” without harm, well almost.  People throughout the world pride themselves on their local and national teams in whatever sport they fancy, whether it be soccer/ futbol, cricket, badminton, or baseball.

We tend to look for heroes or heroines in life as we dream and imagine achieving the pinnacle of success in competition.  We also live vicariously through others that can be professionals on television, or even our kids in junior through advanced levels of tournament play.

These are our modern day warriors that carry the badge of honor to display prowess in not only physical, but mental and emotional leadership. It demonstrates the ability to handle pressure and challenge the best that there is in each respective arena where the competition is being performed.

The NBA Finals that are going on right now is an excellent display of discipline and teamwork on the part of the San Antonio Spurs, but it also shows how they have challenged themselves after losing a 3-2 lead advantage and while on the brink of victory in Game 6 with 28 seconds remaining, lost it all and now seem steely eyed focused.  We identify with that because it is real life scenarios that we identify with in failure and success.  Work, school, and any other area of dedication undergoes the pinwheel cycle of ups and downs and it is this understanding and mastery that enables us to continue on and never give up.

Prior to going to bed, it is sometimes very helpful to imagine oneself and reenacting a heated competition with the memory of a successful action or victory that leaves an indelible impression on our minds.  To be able to play back this vivid imagery, is to see oneself the way we envision that warrior on Mount Olympus holding the torch of success.

Are we deluding ourselves into a world of fantasy or are we just setting our sights on the vision for success and a positive result?  I truly believe that having goals and milestones to aim for are always important for us to have to achieve and aim for.  If we never set a target, how do we ever know what we will shoot at?  Visit us at www.needseo.com .
