Costa Rica Soccer Streak Nixed by Netherlands

( — July 7, 2014) Alajuela, Alajuela — Vamos boss, George Schwarzenbach, cheered on the Costa Rican national team in their quarter-final match against European soccer giants, Holland in the World Cup held in Brazil on Saturday, despite knowing that their victory would bring his company just one game away from losing an estimated $21,375 of rental income.   The entrepreneur chose to support the national team with an unbelievable promotion to the fans of the world’s most popular sporting event.

The local car company joined the country’s obsession for the tournament by offering to reimburse all customers who renting during the four week period of the World Cup, dependent upon Costa Rica reaching the finals.  This offer was understandably greeted with enthusiasm by Vamos customers, who had joined Costa Rican fans on the business’s Facebook fan page in supporting the team’s determined efforts.

After seeing the team kick its way valiantly through the so-called ‘Group of Death’ to emerge in number one position over previous World Cup winners, Italy, Uruguay and England, George was amazed to see Costa Rica beat Greece to move forward into the quarter finals.  The tiny Central American team had never reached this stage in a World Cup before and the excitement was contagious across the country and culminating with Saturday kick off.

The underdog’s winning streak was halted by Holland’s winning penalties, leaving an exhausted and battered Costa Rica to limp home to a heroes’ welcome.  Tears were shed by the fans, who anxiously watched their team for over two hours of skilled play.

Vamos customers can take comfort in knowing that although their car rental may not be free this time around; all usual perks such as an emergency cell phone, cooler, additional drivers, child seat and roof racks will remain free of charge!  Stay tuned to see how George will reveal his next promo for the 2018 World Cup, held in Russia.
