(Newswire.net — July 21, 2014) — The past decade has been witness to an explosion of law firms offering personal injury solicitors in Manchester, and other parts of the UK, no-win no-fee agreements. While the vast majority of these companies operate well within the legal and ethical requirements and boundaries of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), sadly there are a few renegade firms that do not play fair.
Independent sources have confirmed that several less than honorable personal injury lawyers have been promoting unethical practices which, by their very nature, are not in line with the best interests of their clients, or indeed, society in general.
Some “no-win, no-fee” personal injury solicitors in Manchester, for example, have been hounding people on the way to and actually into hospitals, trying to sign them up as clients, before the victim has even been treated for their injuries.
Other questionable characters have been less than upfront and transparent about their expenses and commission fees, so as to make clients more likely to sign-up with them. Little do many of these unsuspecting clients realize that at some point – if their claim is successful – they may be served with a surprisingly large bill for the legal work carried out by their personal injury solicitors and their team.
Thankfully, a helpful new online resource, helpwithlawyers.co.uk, has just been launched by a small, dedicated team of volunteers, all of whom have had ethical issues with previous personal injury solicitors and/or lawyers over the past few years. This new project is not a blacklist of any kind, but rather different reminders of how useful common sense can be when preparing for and dealing with difficult situations.
Project leader and work at home mother of three, Samantha Knox explains, “Our new site, Help with Lawyers, has been created to help ordinary people, with little or no legal knowledge, to quickly gather honest, reliable resources and gain helpful advice and tips to help ensure they find one of the better solicitor firms here in Manchester, of which there are many.”
Samantha continues, “The website shares lessons we personally have learned the hard way, with easy-to-follow simple suggestions and useful relevant information to help our readers avoid pitfalls and make better informed decisions about personal injury solicitors, or claims lawyers when making a claim, and who may suit best for their particular needs.”
“For example, if someone has been injured at work, or in a traffic accident, by becoming better informed through the site, they now have a better chance of receiving due compensation, without also being faced with the exorbitant fees charged by some of the more morally-challenged in the legal trade.” she adds.
Help with Lawyers was launched this morning and for now is focused primarily on the team’s own home town of Manchester, England. With time, and as need arises, the HWL support team are preparing to expand the site with further local and national UK coverage, helping to make a world with lawyers a safer and more aware place to be.
