A new film festival, “Movie Week,” has been announced and is scheduled for this fall. The event is sponsored by entertainment company AMG Services and entertainment website moviefavorites.org. The festival will be held in New York.
“Film festivals offer us an opportunity to see different kinds of movies that we usually do not have an opportunity to watch,” said AMG Services’ director of events Richard Brown. “Every film you see at a festival has its own message and teaches you something new.”
According to information in moviefavorites.org, the festival will showcase feature and short film screenings and will have a strong focus on first films from up and coming directors. Up to 60 films are expected to be screened during the week; some are productions of directors from as far as China, Japan, and Africa. The event will also have several live music performances.
Organizers from AMG and MovieFavorites said that unlike other film festivals that concentrate on screening films only, this festival has been designed as an inclusive entertainment event. There are surprise performances from famous guest musicians planned for the opening day of the festival.
“We’re planning to give the setting of this film festival color, entertainment and an atmosphere that is family-oriented and attractive to audience of all ages,” said moviefavorites.org editor Janice Chamberlain.
The event was conceived by the two entertainment bodies as an avenue for up and coming directors and is scheduled to become an annual event. Chamberlain said that in subsequent years this festival will become one of the leading events in New York’s entertainment calendar.
For the kickoff of the festival a cult classic film by producer Susan Parello will be screened. Parello shot to fame last year with her classic “Messengers from Mars” and this new cult classic is expected to be another production to watch.
