According to GameSport, Twitch has more than 50 million monthly active viewer and users. People are asking themselves, why google buy twitch? for what purpose? since they already have youtube.

Partners of Twitch include GameSpot, Joystiq and Destructoid. Twitch is similar to YouTube in that it allow anyone to use it platform for gaming, allowed anyone a chance to be famous. Because of the similar platform to You tube many are speculating that google will join both platforms together, but it is left to be seen.
Just recently twitch hosted a tournament of live gaming. Investor and game creators became aware of how lucrative live gaming can be, after more than 45 million viewers tune into Twitch to watch people play video games.

Rumors have it that Microsoft was also interesting, but google beat them to it. Some people are not happy with the news; people are saying google is powerful enough.
Controversy about whether or not game makers are entitled to some kind of compensation or a portion of the revenue still excised. There are millions to be made in this industry, just the ad revenue alone it a big earning potential for google.
