(Newswire.net — July 24, 2014) New York, New York –Education has been a field that has benefited tremendously from technological advances. Perhaps no area has changed the face of education more than the “remote classroom.” Students across the globe have been able, through the wonders of the Internet, to take instruction from masters, lecturers and performers around the world, no matter where they are located. Now, pianoSonoma is offering a “master class” to be taught by technician Choong Mo Kang, a member of the piano performance faculty at Julliard. Although Dr. Kang will be located in Denver, pianoSonoma students will be able to participate in this class from The Green Music Center’s Weill Hall.
Choong Mo Kang has dominated the classical music world with performances in Russia, the United Kingdom and his native South Korea and will now share his insights with students using Yamaha’s Remote Lesson™ technology and the piano company’s world-renowned Disklavier™ CFX concert grand.
As seen at http://www.yamaha.com/, Remote Lesson™ technology makes it possible to connect up to four Disklavier™ advanced acoustic player pianos via the web. When someone plays one piano, each piano in the network replicates key and pedal movements in real time. This enables long-distance piano lessons, performances and master classes to proceed as if everyone was in the same room at the same time.
pianoSonoma Artistic Directors, Yamaha artists Michael and Jessica Shinn, are grateful for the opportunity to work with Choong Mo Kang, Yamaha, and The Green Music Center to bring this truly extraordinary experience to the Sonoma area.
Participants will gather on the stage in Weill Hall to enjoy Dr. Kang’s teaching and performance. The pianists currently working with Dr. Kang include pianoSonoma artists in residence as well as college and high school musicians.
This event is open to the public and is free to anyone who would like to attend. The session will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in Weill Hall at the Green Music Center of Sonoma State University. Music lovers will also want to attend the July 27 and August 3 concerts at the Green Music Center. For more information, see http://www.pianosonoma.org/?p=679.
