(Newswire.net — August 8, 2014) Lake Worth, FL — Lasers and light have long been a part of dermatology and skin treatment. Dermatologists have tested this technology to contribute to the development of treating many skin conditions related to old age and other factors. Now with the latest advancements in therapeutic laser and light procedures, new innovative treatments for hair loss and nail fungus, as well as cellulite reduction are beginning to surface. These advancements can lead to even further developments in the future in regards to treating any number of conditions related to skin, hair, or nails.
The first stage of laser treatment is a low level powered light treatment used to stimulate and target cells with light. LLLT as it commonly referred to has been studied and evaluated for wound healing and photo aging more than anything; it is now being studied extensively for fat removal and hair removal.
There are several devices available which can be used in office and at home to stimulate hair growth as well. Many of these devices still have further testing to be done as to their effectiveness but are still regarded as tools to use for new methods being used to reverse the effects of hair loss. There are currently two methods which have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for hair loss (Minoxidil therapy for men and women, and Finasteride oral for men), but doctors stress that some patients react negatively to hair scalp treatment or cannot take oral medication. LLLT is being accepted as an alternate treatment for many of these patients to reverse their hair loss – the results and time needed to see them vary from patient to patient. Each patient is recommended to seek further advice on the subject from a dermatologist.
Laser skin treatment is now being used to reduce the appearance of cellulite as well. Cellulite is the lumpy, bumpy appearance which usually appears on the buttocks and thigh areas. It is typically only seen in women as it related to hormonal factors that mainly show in women. The fat is stored and held together by a structure of various connective tissues, in men this is a highly reinforced structure; unfortunately this isn’t true for women, it is not as reinforced as in men and gives the bulging appearance which gives the skin a multi-overlying dimple effect which most women attempt to reduce at any cost.
There is a number of non-surgical or invasive devices marketed to improve cellulite – both at home and at the office, none of which really give very noticeable improvement. The office based procedures on the other hand may reduce the appearance of cellulite by 25-50%, but the results rarely last and require scheduled maintenance. Laser skin treatment is the new technology which is changing all of this and creating the long lasting effects which women are looking for.
