(Newswire.net — August 29, 2014) Boulder, CO — Gone are the days of lazy pregnancy.  Decades ago being pregnant was looked at as an ailment, something that needed to be treated delicately, which often meant women being told to rest indefinitely.  Today women know that having a baby doesn’t mean that their daily routines have to come to a screeching halt.  In fact, new studies have proven just how important staying active is for healthy pregnancies.  The popular yoga instructor and author Julie Schoen has just published her 21st fitness guide, this one dedicated entirely to prenatal yoga and the health of pregnant women.

Schoen’s new book, Mommy Does Yoga, was recently voted the best prenatal yoga guide on Amazon, offering various sequences of poses that can be adapted for all three trimesters.  In honor of Labor Day weekend, her book will be free on Amazon.com for all customers as a digital download through September 1st.

The author and instructor gave birth to her second child just weeks ago and has already bounced back, practicing daily yoga and fitting into her pre-pregnancy clothes.  She cites yoga, which she practiced nearly every day leading up to the birth of her daughter, as one of the many reasons she has recovered as quickly as she has, but she also acknowledges that some of it has to do with a relatively easy pregnancy and a natural birth with no complications.

“No matter which stage of pregnancy you are in, the 6th week or the 38th, you can benefit from yoga,” she says.  “When you’re pregnant you need yoga more than ever.  It’s not just for you, but for your baby too.  Everyone benefits from the time spent on your mat.”

Schoen’s prenatal yoga guide gives women a great idea of what prenatal yoga can be, offering advice, tips, and detailed instructions and photos for some of the best poses for pregnancy.  In addition to the book, Schoen has released a companion Mommy Does Yoga DVD, which leads women through the poses in the book with a non-stop flow.
