History

It all began in 1822, when Friedrich Ludwig Röchling founded a coal trading business. Twenty seven years later the “Röchling brothers” comprised of Friedrich’s four nephews began the production of hard coal coke (a replacement for charcoal in furnaces to produce steel) and processing.

Fast forward to 1922, the Röchling Company acquired its first plastics company of Holzveredelung GmbH in Berlin. This acquisition proved to be a successful venture. So much so, that the Röchling Group expanded its product range and eventually sold all other holdings to focus on plastic.

Sheet sizes

The most common sheet sizes for plastics are usually 24” X 48” or 48” X 96” sheets. Occasionally some manufacturers offer sheets 48” X 120”.  In 2007 Röchling Engineered Plastics started producing the largest plastic sheets, call the MegaSheet™.  The Mega Press behemoth is capable of producing a 96” X 240” sheet in thicknesses ranging from 3/8” to 4”.
