Copywriter Catapult Launched to Help Novice Writers

(Newswire.net — November 3, 2014) Algood, Tennessee — History tells us it isn’t unusual to see a rise in self-employment levels following a recession due to redundancy, job insecurity and the need for families to earn extra income. What’s different this time round is that many of those taking the plunge over the last few years are choosing to remain self-employed because of both the potential rewards and better lifestyle on offer. One area that has seen a significant growth in new entrants, in particular, is copywriting.

It’s a fast and easy business to set up from home. Most people know how to write; they understand the basics of punctuation, spelling and good grammar. They were taught how to use full stops, commas and question marks at school, right? Yet we see ignorance and indifference all around us which is why professional copywriters rather than enthusiastic amateurs are in such high demand and able to command top rates for their work.

Come boom or bust there’s always a demand for skilled copywriters. Billions of dollars are spent each year by businesses looking to attract clients and sell products and services and to do this they use adverts, sales letters, TV and radio commercials, billboards websites and so on. Every piece of promotional material, whether in print, being broadcast, or travelling around the internet, relies on the skill of the person writing it. If they do a good job, a message can reach an audience of millions. If they get it wrong, they can ruin a firm’s reputation for good.

Rather than dismissing this recent influx of students and this new competition out of hand, one experienced professional copywriter, Richard Boureston, president of Red Fox Associates, has spent the last few months working on a program to help them: in fact a program to help anybody who wants to become a better copywriter, whether they are a complete novice, are in a job they’d like to leave when they have honed a new skill, or even if they just want a second income stream to help pay for life’s little extras.

Having trawled through some 3,000 ‘how to’ texts covering the last 120 years, mining the literature for nuggets of advice and combining them with his own experiences and thoughts on the profession, Boureston has created Copywriter Catapult, a program that he claims can take even the most basic of writers and turn them into a promotional copywriter capable of earning a living from the profession in just three months.

Boureston explains: “All businesses need great words and there’s an acute shortage of people who can write well. I hear it all the time. I can’t find a decent writer. The simple truth is there are plenty of copywriters out there, but not so many good ones. I want to change that.”

“Copywriter Catapult will give you a great foundation in the fundamentals of the writing craft. How to use the written word to engage, excite and persuade. You’ll learn to think about and write effective headlines and examine the way copywriters change their content and style for different readers. You’ll also discuss approaches to different media and the challenges and opportunities they present. We’ll cover topics from the importance of structuring a proposition clearly and logically to writers’ golden rules, and we’ll explore best practice for combining words.”

“The program delivered online, requires about 10 hours of study each week for 12 weeks and is set to cost around $1,995 once beta trials have been completed. For now, on a first come, first served basis, the cost is just $997 to take part as one of the first students and there’s an added promise of help from me when it comes to finding work following completion of the course. If you’re interested you can sign up for more information here http://copywritercatapult.com/.”

Boureston concludes: “If you’re already a bit of a wordsmith, you can discover how to make your words really jump off a page. You can find out how to turn what is perhaps a creative passion into a commercial reality. And if you’ve never tried it before, what’s stopping you? Believe me, earning your money as a copywriter can be flexible, fun, fulfilling and very profitable.”

Today’s climate is perfect for the budding copywriter with the dominance of digital marketing. Search engines like Google use sophisticated algorithms to decide which positions websites deserve in terms of their search results. And the only way they can currently tell what a web page is about is through its words. Unless you get the word bit right, a search engine can’t rate and rank a web page properly which means words are absolutely vital for online businesses and good writers are very busy!
