The owners of Firelight Vineyards have created a Kickstarter campaign with the goal to raise $60,000 by November 22nd. With these funds, the business owners plan to renovate a quaint building in the historic town square of Valley View, Texas, and open a production winery and tasting room. The donations will also be used to build an outdoor patio, wine tasting bar, and functional vineyard as well as buy commercial winemaking equipment. Generous donations are being offered to those who pledge.

With six years of winemaking experience, the owners have perfected various skills. They won two state-wide medals in 2013 and, in 2014, a gold medal for advanced techniques such as delestage, cryoextraction, and oak aging for a Tempranillo red wide. Owner Meredith Eaton has a degree in Viticulture and Enology and has worked at different wineries and vineyards in the North Texas area including an internship at a large vineyard and winemaking facility in Saint Jo, Texas.

In addition to a vineyard where grapes will be freshly harvested, the facility will feature:

– A winery building, built into a historic structure. Inside will be a large tasting bar, barrel room, and outdoor patio with a European-style construction.

– Show vineyard, featuring six different varieties of grapes.

– A courtyard will be built across the street. It will accommodate outdoor seating and an entertainment and event stage.

It’s More than Just About Wine

The owners also plan to put their pyro-technical skills to use. A professionally choreographed fireworks show will take place for the grand opening and every year thereafter. An annual event with fireworks, live music, and food is planned. Special events will also be hosted each month to celebrate holidays, wine releases, music, and art.

“It’s been a long road, but our dream of giving Valley View the wine, social gathering, and entertainment experience it deserves will become a reality,” said owner Meredith Eaton. “We have taken the risks and challenges of opening our business head on. Excited about reaching our Kickstarter goal, we plan to deliver on all our promises and, beyond the current project, are already planning for future expansion.”
