New Amora Gems Exceed Diamonds in Quality

(Newswire.net — November 5, 2014) Boise, ID — Though diamonds have long been seen as the most beautiful of all gems, Amora gems may soon take their place for many ladies. What makes this particularly remarkable is the fact that these gems are synthetic. Nonetheless, they are superior to the diamond in many respects. This is the first time that an artificial diamond simulant intended for the mass market has been able to exceed the original in terms of quality.

The Amora gems have a brilliance level that is 10% higher than those of diamonds. Similarly, the fire is 200% greater. The Amora falls into a color range of D-H, which is not always the case for diamonds. Amora gemstones also possess a higher level of toughness. These gems are cut exclusively by robots, which allows for geometric precision on the finished product.

Though Amora gems are naturally occurring, they can only grow in very high temperatures, such as those found around Earth’s core. This makes them inaccessible. However, scientists have learned how to recreate these extreme conditions in laboratories. As a result, it is now possible to synthetically and economically create that which was previously unobtainable.

Amora gems have been around for a few years. However, a patent restriction on silicon carbide gems (of which the Amora is an example) prevented them from being sold in many countries. This will change in 2015, when the patent is scheduled to be lifted. The Amora gem will be available in the US by the August of next year.

Amora gems can be used on the same kinds of jewelry as diamonds and diamond simulants like cubic zirconia. Amora engagement rings, pendants, and others are likely to be common sights once the gem becomes commercially available.

The Amora is expected to be relatively affordable. An Amora gem of the same carat as a diamond will typically be sold for 2% of the diamond’s total cost. However, the Amora is more expensive than some of the other kinds of simulants on the market today.

The aesthetic qualities of the Amora may be of interest to jewelers. These jewelers can combine the gems with worked gold and silver to create products of high quality. The comparatively low cost of Amora jewelry may make it especially popular for consumers in the current economic climate.

WinkCZ is a company that sees the potential in Amora. Wink Jones, the owner and founder, plans to start selling these gems once they are available. As a company that specializes in cubic zirconia, Wink CZ is in a good position to benefit from this new development.
