(Newswire.net — November 6, 2014)  — The activist group Anonymous organized the third annual act of mass civil disobedience called Million Mask March. Thousands of people marched against globalism, mass surveillance and social injustice, in almost any major city in the world. United in face and values, all participants worn stylized Guy Fawkes masks popularized by “V for Vendetta” movie.

As activists flocked the streets of more than 400 cities worldwide, some of the biggest protests were seen in London and Washington, where hundreds of activists engaged in a tense and prolonged standoff with police. At least ten activists were arrested in London on charges of assaulting police officers and different public order offences.

Anonymous activists, who organized the protest in London, warned its members of possible police brutality, however, some of the hard-core members were arrested when they tried to pull the protective fence that police had mounted to secure the area.

“For what is worth, my personal view is we should have a peaceful loving protest,” said popular actor Russell Brand before aggravated crowd interrupted him. Brand then calls them to “Stay cool.”

“The internet has the power to bring down regimes. That is what terrifies them. That is why they are now monitoring our phone calls, they monitor our emails, and they monitor our free speech. It terrifies them. They have no particular jurisdiction over the internet. It belongs to everyone,” member of the movement told RT News.

In Washington, the Million Mask March started peacefully, however, the protesters briefly clashed with the police as they tore fences away.

“Being in the military you’re just a number, you’re just a pawn for their game. I respect everyone in, ’cause that’s their choice, but it is just a pawn game. It’s all for money, oil and greed,” said a protester in military uniform on the streets of DC.

Along with co-thinkers from around the world, German citizens also had something to say against globalism and modern imperialism.

“The government and the economy do everything to make us dependent of money and that cannot be the solution. The solution is to do everything together,” said one German protester.

“We could make the world a lot more beautiful when we stop being against each other,” Said other protester in Berlin.
