(Newswire.net — November 10, 2014) Chandler, AZ — On October 26, 2014, Walgreens sponsored a walk & 5k run in the city of Phoenix, Arizona to help raise funds and awareness for AIDS research. The staff of Impressions Dental from Chandler, Arizona participated in the event with their team “Rootin’ For A Cause” and raised $355 for the Aunt Rita’s Foundation and other benefiting agencies.
The Chandler dentist office staff showed support of this event by asking patients, friends and family to donate to the cause. All of the donations were collected in advance of the event and presented to the event organizer prior to the start of the run. Impressions Dental staff members created a team and joined a large crowd of participants and spectators all wanting to show their support.
“HIV affect people everywhere and we wanted to try to make a difference in our own community,” said Trista, a treatment coordinator at Impressions Dental. “Our team was humbled by the amazing people who surrounded us all and wanted to do the same thing as we did, bring awareness to this epidemic.”
In Arizona, over 15,000 people are infected with HIV and AIDS. The raised funds at the Arizona Aids Walk and 5K Run is distributed to local agencies in Central Arizona to assist with education, prevention and support of those living with HIV and AIDS. This year’s total funds raised from the 2014 event reached a staggering $308,985.92 and continue to grow as final dollar amounts are collected.
