(Newswire.net — November 25, 2014) Mission Viejo, CA — The Tayani Institute has long been dedicated to providing its patients with the very best in optical care. Examples of this commitment can be found at the Tayani Institute’s outpatient surgery center. Known as the West Coast Center for Surgeries (WCCS), this facility offers the best and latest eye care technology. The center has recently acquired a LenSx Femtosecond laser. This device allows doctors to perform bladeless cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery is performed more than 3 million times a year in the US alone. Cataracts occur when the lens of an eye starts to cloud. They are often responsible for decreased vision, and can even cause blindness. Bladeless cataract surgery involves the use of the LenSx femtosecond laser to remove the affected lens (which is then replaced). The LenSx femtosecond laser is the tool of choice when it comes to this procedure. It’s used in eye care centers all over the world.

The WCCS is currently the only facility in Southern California that uses the LenSx laser to perform bladeless cataract surgery.

Dr. Ramin Tayani, the founder of both the Tayani Institute and the WCCS, made the following statement: “We are excited to finally make laser-assisted cataract surgery available to our patients. This allows our surgeons to make more precise incisions, and decreases eye trauma. The procedure also results in a more accurate inter-ocular lens (IOL) placement that [can improve] vision and reduce the need for glasses.

“We take the time to assess clinical studies, look at the long term results, and wait for the technology to become fine-tuned and consistent. Only then will we use it at our own practice. This attention to care and detail is what allows us to bring the best possible services to our patients. We’re proud to be the first and only Southern California surgical center to use the LenSx femtosecond laser.”

The West Coast Center for Surgeries (WCCS) is an accredited multispecialty outpatient surgery center located next to the Tayani Institute in San Clemente, CA. Most of the Tayani Institute’s surgical procedures are performed in this state-of-the-art facility. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Ramin Tayani, the practice helps patients at 5 locations in South Orange County. It also services the local mountain communities of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead. The Tayani Institute focuses on surgical ophthalmology and orbital facial plastic surgery.
