Philomath, OR. (December 23, 2014) Digital Photographic Services (DPS) officially launched its new website to better provide for those who may not be as confident about navigating through the digital space. Per a Nielson Norman Group study, the ability to use websites declines by 0.8% per year for people between the ages of 25-60. With two-thirds of Americans over 50 buying from e-retailers and DPS’s core audience being in the age range of 40-60, this was of the utmost concern to the photo and slide scanning company.

According to digitalphotoguides.com, what makes digital photography so simple to share is the fact that it can be sent via email, over CDs, DVDs, and through websites–popular digital mediums and platforms for many younger Internet users. With the growing interest of DPS’s core audience to transfer their slides and print pictures onto digital media or their computers, DPS saw an immediate need to make his website more user friendly–so that these particular individuals could easily find and benefit from its services. “For our less digitally savvy customers, moving through a multiple page, text heavy website was making it hard for them to find the information they seek and order with ease. Many of our customers still have non-digitized slides and old family photos that are more than 20 years old. Photos deteriorate over time and we want to help our customers preserve them,” says Dave Orr, owner of DPS.

DPS’s website re-design included a simplified navigation process with a quickly locatable “Let’s Get Started” link that directs visitors to top-level pages only incorporating information for their most in-demand services: 1) transferring of slides and 2) transferring of prints. The goal was to prevent overwhelming first-time potential customers with unnecessary details right off the bat. Additionally, for those who might be a little unsure about sending their only copy of a photo in, the site provides shipping and packing resources, along with a step-by-step guide of the digitization process.

With these and other major website modifications, DPS hopes to continue to offer their print and slide scanning services to customers who need that extra support when using the Internet and shopping online.
