Interview With Iraqi Citizen Describes Life Under ISIS Rules

(Newswire.net — December 23, 2014) Mosul, Iraq — On June 6th 2014, ISIS attacked Mosul from the northwest and quickly entered the western part of the city. The ISIL forces numbered approximately 1,500, while there were at least 15 times more Iraqi forces, according to the Economist.

Many Crises have taken place since ISIS took over the city and attacked other Iraqi cities, Crises started from slaughtering innocent citizens, bombing, kidnapping and displacing about 2 million Iraqi people.

R.M asked to hide his identity in this article for his safety.

What was your reaction when you knew that ISIS took Musol?

-People running, leaving their houses and what precious they own to save their lives from ISIS’s danger, that was the first day I didn’t want to judge them by ignorance I didn’t really know what was their purpose so I was just in shock.
What’s the situation now in Musol? Normal or Disturbed?

-I can’t describe the situation in other words than being dark.

How is ISIS treating the people in the city?

-If you follow ISIS then you live safer than ever, if you do what they tell you then nobody could hurt you.

Is it true that in colleges they separated males and females and did they change some of the Classes because it’s forbidden and if so what classes?

-Yes, ISIS separated males and females and they banned all College departments of (Physics and Law) and they banned some subjects from schools like (Economy, archeology, Evolution and some more)

Is it true that ISIS force women to wear (Niqab)?

-In addition, they forced the women to wear Niqab and they have forbidden the boys to speak with girls and if so, they would force them to marry!

-What happened to the Christian friends and families you know and can you tell me what happened to them exactly and are you in touch with any of them now?

-ISIS lead heads asked the Christians whether to join Islam, pay “Tribute” or be killed, Christian pops promised to make a meeting to discuss the issue of Tribute as a payoff of their protection to Christians, but Christians were so afraid to attend that meeting so they ran away. ISIS caught them at the way out and took their gold and money, am still in touch of so many Christians and I can’t describe our relationship after what happened.

What about the prices of Different life needed merchandises (Food, clothes, gas, oil…etc) is it more expensive or cheaper now?

-We are facing a lot of problems with life needs, if its available, then its so expensive, one can of gas costs ten times double the Iraqi one, oil is expensive too with the worse types we have ever used.

Is Jihad Al-Nikah “Sexual Jihad”  true? Or just rumors? And do they bother Women in the street?

-Juhad Al Nikah is true, only on media, so its never happened its just rumors, they bother women only if they are not dressed with Niqab .
Does ISIS have Check points in the city? If so, is it a lot?

-They do have check points at nights very often, but its just for specific times and doesn’t even compare with Iraqi Army’s check points .

Were Musol’s people happy about ISIS taking over the city at the first days? And what about now?

-Most of them they were so happy because ISIS made the power available for over two days without any cut off, oil grew very cheap and available, but now people hate them double times more than they used to love them.
Do ISIS jihadists punish people in public? And if so, did you witness any?

-They do punish people, I heard from my relative that they punish the ones who sell cigarette but now they take money instead of punishment, other it was true Islamic punishment about two individuals committed adultery, my relatives witnessed that with their own eye.

Do you think ISIS’s Defeat is soon?

-I dont think ISIS’s defeat is soon because in land, they are like monsters, what do you think about someone who fights to die? They are just incomparable in battle field, though they will never give up on Mosul until its ashes, unfortunately.

What do you think about the recent prime minister of Iraq Noori Al-Maliky? And what message you want to send him?

-What do you think about someone who prisons your friends for no reason? What do you think about someone who prisons women because they are siblings of terrorists? And what if they get abused behind the cells? And last what do you think about an Army they used to treat doctors, professors, women and youth like slaves??
Do you think that ISIS represents Real Islam? And why?

-I can’t answer that I’m still ignorant to judge someone use to spend his whole life studying Islam.
