(Newswire.net — January 7, 2015) Scottsdale, AZ — Poisoned Pen Press, one of the largest mystery book publishers in the world, is getting 2015 off to a great start for lovers of the mystery novel with the release of three exciting new books from popular authors. “Nantucket Five-spot” by Steven Axelrod, “Where the Bones are Buried” by Jeanne Matthews, and “The Serina Quest” by Michael A. Kahn make their debut in January.

“Our January new releases are in keeping with our goal of finding and working with authors to publish new books for our loyal and enthusiastic readers,” said Poisoned Pen Press co-founder Robert Rosenwald. “We are proud of the fact that the books we publish consistently receive rave reviews in the press.”

Among the January offerings from Poisoned Pen Press, author Steven Axelrod brings back his poetry-writing chief of police to deal with terrorist threats, infidelity and betrayal on Nantucket Island during the busy tourist season. The plot is filled with enough twists and turns to keep readers wondering where the evidence will lead next. Readers who enjoy police procedural novels will look forward to reading “Nantucket Five-spot.”

Berlin might seem to be an odd setting for a mystery involving a Native American, a death straight out of the American Wild West and enough plot twists and subplots to keep even mystery genre veteran Dinah Pelerin on her toes, but author Jeanne Matthews makes it work. The fifth Dinah Pelerin mystery, “Where the Bones are Buried,” has the college professor and sleuth created by Matthews working to solve a murder while hoping the killer does not turn out to be her.

The third offering of the month thrusts readers into a mystery that goes back to 1959. A $3 million reward awaits the lucky adventurers who find and return the missing statue of Sirena to its home at a New England college in time for the 150th anniversary of the schools founding. One of the first hurdles for a group of former classmates at the college is that Sirena disappeared in 1959. So begins the search by four middle-aged men who come together 20 years after graduation to race against a deadline in the new mystery book, “The Sirena Quest,” by author Michael A. Kahn.
