(Newswire.net — January 9, 2015) Thomson, Illinois — Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt is up for a Golden Globe Sunday, hoping to walk off with the Best Supporting Actress award and cap what was a busy 2014.

Froggatt plays Anna Bates on the popular series that is broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom and PBS in the United States. Also vying for the award are Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Allison Janney (Mom), Uzo Aduva (Orange Is The New Black) and Kathy Bates (American Horror Story: Freak Show).

Froggatt said she received letters of support from victims of sexual assault after her portrayal of a rape victim in Season 4.

“There’s a huge responsibility and the storyline is so sensitive,” she told The Daily Best. “I’ve said many times that I feel responsibility to people who watch at home who maybe have gone through similar experiences in life. That’s what weighs on my mind.”

The show airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Froggatt in 2014 also starred in a new audio theater production, In Freedom’s Cause, which tells the true story of 14th-century Scottish hero William Wallace and his fight for independence from Britain. She plays Lady Marjory, a determined and independent young woman who wants to see her people free.

It was the second audio theater project from Heirloom Audio Productions. The first one, Under Drake’s Flag, told the true story of English hero Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540-1596).

The CDs are based on G.A. Henty books and recorded in the same genre of Adventures In Odyssey. In fact, some crew members from that Focus on the Family production worked with Heirloom Audio.

Actress Chris Anthony – who hosted Adventures In Odyssey on radio – was impressed.

“I haven’t been this excited since the beginning of Adventures In Odyssey,” Anthony said.
