(Newswire.net — January 14, 2015) San Diego, CA — Most on-line daters are looking for love, not a business partner. But Valerie McCartney and Joe McKinney, founders of San Diego-based Enticing Tables, scored on both fronts. Combining his 25-plus years of aerospace welding experience with her decades-old career in marketing and franchise development at several Fortune 500 companies, the couple almost stumbled upon an untapped niche in the wedding and events industry. “We were watching a show about very high-end weddings where everything was lavish and over-the-top gorgeous, except for the awful white wrought iron candelabras….which came straight out of 1972. I told Joe that we should design and build a more modern floral stand for fun,” says McCartney. Drawing her rough idea on a napkin, Joe produced a prototype and one week later, Valerie took the prototype down to a local floral shop. When the florist asked where she got it and if she could get more, it seemed clear that they had a winner.

What started as one floral stand quickly grew into a huge portfolio of cupcake and cake stands, arches, canopies, candelabras, chandeliers and more, as seen at http://www.enticingtables.com. In particular, the couple is known for their original cupcake stands that look like trees, ferris wheels, roller coasters and even Disney’s famous Wild Tea Party ride, complete with spinning cups that hold cupcakes or any other treat. With their work being featured in a slew of wedding and event magazines, blogs and Pinterest, the demand for their one-of-a-kind designs has garnered fans from across the country and in 2013, they began selling their creations to caterers, bakers and rental companies across the U.S. and even internationally. Says McCartney, “Because we’ve been renting our stands locally for five years, we understand the rigors and wear-and-tear of the wedding and event rental business. Our products are made of steel and powder coated so they’re low maintenance and highly durable – exactly what a caterer or baker needs.”
On the personal front, the couple married in October of 2012. Using their own wedding as a debut for new product lines, such as those found at http://www.enticingtables.com/c.aspx?n=rental-catalog and http://www.enticingtables.com/category_v3.aspx?categoryID=33, the couple postponed their honeymoon and immediately moved into a new, larger workshop one month later – truly labor and love go together for this couple.
