The Flood Co Responds to Freeze Damage in Utah

(Newswire.net — January 15, 2015) Centerville, Utah — Local meteorologists reported winter storm warning is in effect for a large portion of the state of Utah. Significant snow accumulation will be possible, with 2-8 inches expected in the valley, 4-11 inches in the benches, 5-13 inches in the mountain valleys and 1-2.5 feet in the mountains between Wednesday night and Friday morning.

Local meteorologists also reported that at 5:30 a.m. on the final day of 2014, the temperature reading in Salt Lake City was approximately four degrees — but actually felt like 10 degrees below zero because of the wind. 50 mile per hour winds continued throughout the night driving those already freezing temperatures into places it would normally take days to get to. Not until noon the next day would the eastern winds start to die down and disappear a little bit, but the eastern flow is going to continue across the Wasatch front.

Local weather forecasters also predicted wind chills in the single digits, and even possibly lower in places that experience east winds. These Cold Temperatures are taking its toll on pipes all across the Wasatch front. The recent snow and cold temperatures are causing pipes to freeze, leading to breaks and flooding. “Some of the frozen pipes were in unlikely places. Some were in interior walls and walls that seemingly should have had insulation. The high winds seemed to be a significant factor in adding to the freeze damage.” said Daryl Olsen owner of The Flood Co.

There is a real supply and demand issue for flood clean-up right now as the restoration companies are working around the clock to help all the families that have had broken pipes get their homes back to working order. “We have seen lots of properties with water damage from the recent freezing over the last few days. Our crew has been working around the cloak and our entire inventory of drying equipment was used on jobs to where we literally had a waiting list for service and drying equipment” reported Daryl Olsen owner of The Flood Company. Several other companies also expressed that they did not have any available drying equipment as well.
