(Newswire.net — January 21, 2015)  — According to researchers at Washington University in St. Louis, ‘conscientious’ partners perform more household tasks and promote a more satisfying home life, which enables their spouse to focus more on work. By focusing on work, the more relaxed spouse achieves better results, which often leads to a promotion.

“These results demonstrate that the dispositional characteristics of the person one marries influence important aspects of one’s professional life,” one researcher said.

In his research, Randal Olson, research assistant at Michigan State University, said couples who dated 1-2 years before their engagement were 20% less likely to ultimately end up divorced than couples who dated less than a year before being engaged.

The same research find clear correlation between income and love. The more money you and your partner make, the less likely you are to ultimately file for divorce. In addition, men are 1.5 times more likely to end up divorced when they care more about their partner’s looks, and women are 1.6 times more likely to end up divorced when they care more about their partner’s wealth.

Research said the more you spend on your wedding, the more likely you’ll end up divorced. Giving that the average cost of a wedding in the US is well over $30,000, it is better to spend money after the wedding. Research data shows that couples who had a honeymoon, are 40 percent less likely to get divorced.
