The web project involves custom programming to create an online catalog for an extensive product list featuring a user interface design that is highly visual.
A visual user interface means that a site visitor does not need to read a product description, which may not mean anything in and of itself without further explanation. For instance, product labels used in drop-down navigation often have internally-assigned labels and abbreviations that do not translate well to everyone else.

The new interface features pictures of the product family and each product within the family.

Hydraulic projects that a visual recognition interface will achieve many outcomes. First, the number of bounces off the site by visitors will be reduced. Second, the time spent on the site will increase. Third, page views will also increase. Fourth, visitors will be more satisfied with their experience. Purchases must be arranged off-site due to the customization required for each order.
Another main feature of this project is the creation of a document library. The site offers very technical data and documentation, by project type, that may be desirable for saving for review or printing later. With the new site, visitors can select the documents they wish to store and add it to their “cart.” This is a free service wherein documents can be saved indefinitely and even categorized by client project type.
A text navigation path remains on the site for those who prefer text or are accustomed to using it, though the visual path is the primary navigation path.
“A user interface that makes sense is ‘the game’,” Snyder says. “Those that can win with their interface will win online.”
