(Newswire.net — February 27, 2015) Mount Wolf, PA — Royal Manchester Golf Links in Mount Joy is the new home of the York Open through 2025. This year it will be held on Friday, August 7th., 2015. The format will be an 18 hole stroke play open championship. This means the player must hit their ball until it is holed no matter how many strokes it takes. This is different from match play where the player may pick up their ball and surrender the whole when it would be impossible to win the hole. This would normally be when they hit a triple bogey in most cases. So the stroke play championship is an exciting event for both the players and the audience. The York Open has a long History starting in the 1950’s. The most famous name on the York Open trophy is Art Wall, he also won the Masters.
This competition is open to Amateurs and Professionals and there are three separate divisions. The first is the Open Champion division which is the oldest division in of the four divisions in professional golf. The next is the Senior Open Champion for those age 50 and older. Finally the Women’s Open Champion division will be represented.
The field is open to the first 140 players to register. Entries are available through the YCAGA. In 2016 this prestigious tournament will be a two day event. The title sponsors are Fox 43, Stetler Dodge and Jeep and Keystone Custom Homes.
The course boasts a state of the art learning academy facility complete with 3D golf swing simulator technology. It is the only one in a 90 mile radius and is used by the top golf facilities in the world. Swings can be compared to the best golfers in the world through the extensive databases it is connected to. The output provides the clearest, science-based picture of the swing capabilities and limitations, and provides the information needed to improve physical performance, reduce the potential for injury and provide biofeedback. It uses sensors placed on the body to provide feedback and help improve the swing through scientific analysis.
The course also has a great restaurant with some specials. They cater and hold special events like weddings and corporate functions in this space. The restaurant is normally open to the public with weekly specials like burger night on Wednesday for only $7. There are 8 different styles of burgers and they are fantastic. Thursday is all you can eat wing night and 4-9 on Friday is all you can eat fish fry. Other events include a chili cook-ff, a linen show for brides, and more.
