(Newswire.net — May 18, 2015) — 28-year-old Chantae Gilman from Seattle will serve a 9-months jail sentence after she admits she brroke into man’s apartment and tried to rape him, The Smoking Gun reported.

Gilman admitted to the crime in a plea deal with prosecutors to downgrade the charges from rape to attempted rape and assault, court documents revealed. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 19.

According to the victim, in June 2013, he woke up to find Gilman pinning his hands above his head. After victim told her to get off of him and leave, 26-year-old Gilman, who weighs 240 pounds, told him to be quiet as she continued to have sex with him. Victim then managed to push her away and call the police.

Court document reviled that Gilman was pregnant with her third child at the time of attack, and and has had two more children since.

She defended her actions, claiming that she suffers from bipolar disorder and that she does not remember the incident. Victim said he knew Gilman only as an acquaintance of a neighbor.

“From a statistical standpoint, yes, it is atypical to have a female aggressor,” Seattle Police Detective Drew Fowler told KOMO News in September. “But we work to hold all people responsible for their actions. The law is specifically written to be gender-equitable and we will charge anybody with a crime that they’re committed.”

Gilman is forbidden from contacting the victim and ordered to to stay away from alcohol and non-prescribed medications. In addition, she will be sentenced to 9 months jail time, The Smoking Gun learned.

In addition to jail time, Gilman will be required to serve two years probation and register as a sex offender. She is also forbidden from contacting the victim, and prosecutors will recommend that she be ordered to stay away from alcohol and non-prescribed medications.

According to the police, Gilman has a criminal record that dates back 15 years. The record includes charges of attempted robbery, attempted forgery, theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
