(Newswire.net — May 20, 2015) Salt Lake City, Utah — When Paul Cardall plays the piano, people stop and connect to something greater. But he’s using another keyboard to increase his fan base, which has helped his new album 40 Hymns for Forty Days bounce back to No. 1 on the Billboard New Age list after a one-week departure.
You might say, Cardall is tweeting his way to the top.
“Music has always transcended boundaries,” said Cardall who has a 2011 Billboard No. 1 hit album called New Life. “Now social media is helping my music get into hands of more people — from my keyboard to their keyboard.”
Cardall currently has approximately 60,000 social media connections, more than 100,000 likes on his Pandora channel and a fan base spanning more than 100 nations, cultures, race and religions, according to a Facebook analysis. However, Cardall says that regardless of how people discover his music, they often will connect with the message behind the music.
“I receive posts, tweets and even letters in the mail from people who describe how my music has helped through through a tough time,” Cardall said. “I play the piano from a soul-filled place, so with 40 Hymns for Forty Days, people are finding an environment that encourages a worshipful experience on a spiritual level.”
Cardall, who successfully survived a life-threatening congenital heart defect and heart transplant, knows a little about exercising faith during difficult times. Six years ago, he was given one year to live and find a heart donor.
“I pray by playing the piano and the result is a calming sound that creates an opportunity to go inward and tap into a spiritual expression,” Cardall said. “People write me all the time that my music stops them in their tracks so they can listen to what’s going on inside of them, and find peaceful therapy for their soul.”
40 Hymns for Forty Days is on 2 discs / 109 minutes long and is distributed by Stone Angel Music through Alliance Entertainment (CDBaby) and Deseret Book Distribution. Pandora Radio is streaming Cardall’s new album to more than a million people world-wide.
