(Newswire.net — June 9, 2015) Darien, CT — Nothing new about treating migraine headaches. That is sad news for migraine headache sufferers. Not wanting to dwell on sad news, there is some hope if you were to look to studies done outside the U.S.
Migraine headaches account for 36 Billion dollars in lost wages each year. This is quite a chunk out of G.D.P. if you stopped to consider it. What about the human toll? Some medications offer relief but often with toxic side effects. Surely something could help the misery millions of people go through?
We need to look to an Australian study that strongly suggests that chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy is effective in relieving the frequency and duration of headaches. The study points out that the results lasted after the study was completed at monthly intervals.
It would stand to reason that this good news would be met with further funding for more studies but that was not the case. It went largely ignored. While there is no suggestion of a conspiracy against spinal manipulative therapy you have to wonder why no one heard about this. It has to be the lack of financial incentive for Big Pharma. It stands to reaason they have no vested interest in a procedure they cannot profit from. The Australian study found chiropractic treatment to be effective and the results longer lasting by far than amytriptyline, the current medication of choice in spite of it’s toxicity and side effects.
Perhaps it is time to consider a proven natural treatment like spinal manipulative therapy as a solid treatment option. This statement is supported by yet another Australian study reporting significant improvement in outcomes after spinal manipulative therapy. When will we start to demand effective treatment that does not have to be in pill form?
