Aaron Johnson – founder and inventor of SHOTBOX – came up with the idea over 12 years ago when trying to figure out how to scan journals and 12×12 scrapbook pages.
“Common scanners are simply too small, time-consuming and limited. The big companies like Ancestry don’t really use them at all. They use cameras, really expensive cameras. I wanted to create a product that helps you take really great archive pictures without a $15,000+ camera or scanner. The sturdy, yet portable and lightweight nature of the SHOTBOX opens the door for many solutions that have been difficult or cumbersome to date. Any camera will work with the SHOTBOX whether it is a smart phone, tablet, DSLR or Digital Point-and-Shoot. The SHOTBOX is optimized for smart devices to make it easy, fast and fun. “By going straight to a smart device, we utilize smart technology. Backup into the cloud is automatic and tasks that used to take many steps like faxing or scanning can all be done right on the phone or tablet”, says Johnson.
As one of the original inventors of the Cricut Electronic Cutter, Johnson’s 20+ year entrepreneurial career has centered around the craft, scrapbook and memory markets.

That all evolved into inventing the methodology and system surrounding the cartridge content and user interface of the Cricut.
