(Newswire.net — July 15, 2015) Scottsdale, Arizona — Summer reading just got ramped up a notch as Poisoned Pen Press releases five new mysteries. Along with the continuation of a couple of popular American series, readers are introduced to two classic mysteries by one of the preeminent British mystery writers from the golden age of British crime fiction.

“Those of us who work at Poisoned Pen Press truly appreciate the mystery genre, so announcement of our monthly new releases is always an exciting time for us,” said co-founder and President Robert Rosenwald. “This month is really special as we introduce readers to British author Freeman Wills Crofts while also delivering new works in some of our most popular series.”

Antidote to Venom and The Hog’s Back Mystery are historical fiction novels in the fine tradition of the golden age of British mysteries. Both books were written by prolific author Freeman Wills Crofts. Among his many admirers were mystery genre legends Agatha Christie and Raymond Chandler.

Crofts was, and remains, the master at creating characters to captivate the reader along with elaborately intricate plots that to keep modern-day readers on the edge of their seats eagerly awaiting the next twist or turn. Both of the July releases by Crofts include introductions by novelist Martin Edwards.

Sure to take their place as reader favorites for July right alongside the Crofts novels are a double treat from attorney and mystery novelist Michael A. Kahn in the Rachel Gold female detective novels. Due Diligence and Firm Ambition each immerse attorney Gold in legal cases that quickly turn deadly. Suddenly, one of the top lawyers in Chicago finds herself in the role of female sleuth on the trail of the killers.

The fifth new release for July from Poisoned Pen Press takes readers into the world of greyhound racing. Author Susan Slater brings back insurance investigator Dan Mahoney for the third in a series of mystery novels

Hair of the Dog finds Mahoney wrapping up dog track fire in Florida in what appears to be a routine arson case. Before long, a kennel owner dies under mysterious circumstances, and a key witness, a veterinarian who worked at the racetrack, suddenly dies. Readers will be intrigued by the plot twists and amused as Dan must also deal with his mobster-dating mother.

Poisoned Pen Press publishes only mystery genre books written by many different authors and releases new novels monthly. Those interested in any of the 5 books released in July from Poisoned Pen Press should visit their website for more information.
