Lazy Cloud INN Posts Labor Day Weekend Events 2015

Gone for a Soldier: Civil War Camp and Soldier Experience at Old World Wisconsin

10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Join our soldiers and get a taste of what Civil War camp life was really like.  Muster in, drill with members of the infantry, visit the surgeon’s tent, sample a soldier’s rations, meet the cavalry members and their horses, give the watchwords, go on a scavenger hunt, and experience a little of life on the home front, too.

This is not a battlefield reenactment, but a chance for you and your family to get up close and experience the action of daily camp life as a member of the Midwest’s famed Iron Brigade.  One weekend only!!!  

Old World Wisconsin is an open-air museum located near Eagle, Wisconsin. Opened in 1976, the museum is owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society. It portrays housing and the daily life of immigrants in 19th century Wisconsin.

Sundays September 6, 2015 through October 25, 2015

Feet-Seat and Eat Walk and Cruise Tours – Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

8:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.

First, you use your feet on a self-guided eight-mile hike from Lake Geneva wit Williams Bay, then take your seat on the Grand Belle and eat aboard.  The walk follows the public lake shoreline, where hikers see multi-million dollar estates, exquisite gardens, wooden boats and more, up close.  Walkers hike to their goal Williams Bay Municipal pier, and then step aboard the Grand Belle for the luxurious SundayChampagne Brunch Buffet, including appetizers, six entrees, desserts, and a narrated tour before returning to the starting point in Lake Geneva.

The action starts at 8:30 a.m. with the self-guided hike taking off from the Lake Geneva Cruise Line Boat docks to the Williams Bay destination.  The one of a kind tour is possible because of an old law that requires the winding path around Geneva Lake be maintained and open to the public.  As long as walkers stay on the path, they are not trespassing.  Walkers should wear sturdy shoes because the walkway, originally a Native American Potawatomi footprint has different landscapes to walk on.

Lake Geneva Business Improvement  District presents the 6th annual Taste of Lake Geneva on Saturday, September 12th.  It is held in Flat Iron Park from 11 AM until 6 PM, where food tents will be set up featuring tempting treats from the area’s finest dining establishments.  Enjoy delicious fare, wine and beer!

Walworth County Fair  September 2^nd thru September 7 2015

166thThis is one of the oldest and best fairs in the state of Wisconsin.  It was first held in 1849.  It is always held over Labor Day Weekend.  The fair is open from 7 AM until midnight everyday except Labor Day when it closes at 9 PM.  There are great places to eat, things to see, farm animals to check out, and great midway.  And don’t forget the grandstand which is usually free. Check out the bull riding, tractor pulls, monster trucks, the bands “Cheap Trick” and Charlie Daniels Band” and the demo derby on Labor Day!  It’s a GREAT fair!!
