(Newswire.net — September 14, 2015) — The video posted on Instagram showing two police officers in a donut café as they mock a victim they shot has caused a public outrage, ABC30 Action News reported.
According to the person who posted the video, the officer’s jolly conversation was filmed at a Happy Donuts in San Francisco.
The video shows one officer vividly describe to his college the scene caught by their police body-cam, not knowing he is being filmed by a person nearby. The officer described how a suspect raised his hands not resisting arrest, after which the suspect was killed. Other officers shared a laugh with the inappropriate comment.
“What you want on video is the guy holding the gun still and going… still pointing at you,” one of the officers is heard saying. “Not [showing hands up] and then BAM-BAM-BAM… cherry pie all over the wall,” the officer said mocking the scene.
The video was posted on Instagram this week, with user’s comment saying she “simply reposted these videos to inform the community about the individuals who are sworn in to ‘serve and protect.’”
It is unclear if two officers laughing at the video actually participated in the incident, or just commented on the incident recorded by another police camera. Police in San Francisco do not wear body cameras yet, but a project to equip them is in the works.
San Francisco PD chief has said he recognized the officers in the video and called the author of the video to send a full-length video. If the allegations are confirmed, the two officers may face disciplinary action, adding that a full investigation has started.
“We want to carry ourselves as the representatives of one of the most thoughtful classy police departments in the country,” San Francisco police Chief Greg Suhr told NBC Bay Area, adding that “it doesn’t look like that in this video to me.”
Judging by the aggravated comments on social networks, the video outrage has spread through the nation, with comments saying that the two officers don’t deserve their badges.
