(Newswire.net — September 26, 2015) — Moscow will order military strikes in Syria whether Washington approves it or not, U.S. intelligence Agency reported to White House. The report comes in the eve of talk preparation between Putin and Obama in New York, as Russian president is coming to address the UN General Assembly.
Soon after the meeting was announced, however, contradictory remarks from Washington and Moscow emerged on the encounter’s genesis and purpose. While Moscow state that agenda will be Crisis in Syria, Washington announces that at the top on the meeting agenda is going to be the Ukraine issue.
As if the situation is not complicated enough, some media reported that China might join its allay Russia in Syria attacks. Chinese fleet is already in Mediterranean Sea, and the aircraft carrier might be on its way, media reported.
According to U.S. officials, Russian Air Force “smuggled” their airplanes as the Russian pilots turned off their planes’ transponders to avoid detection, and hid by flying in a close formation with Russian AN-124 Condor cargo flights. Antonov AN-124 is the largest cargo plane in the world, which used commercial air corridors over Iraq and Iran.
The U.S. officials reported total of 28 fighter and ground attack jets landed since last Friday onto civilian airfield in Latakia province.
Over the last three weeks, the civilian airport is modified to accept Russian military fleet, with upgraded air-traffic control tower and fresh tarmac. Reportedly, the airfield already hosts 16 helicopters, artillery and tanks.
The strip was upgraded over the last three weeks with a new air control tower, fresh tarmac and other modifications to handle the Russian warplanes, according to U.S. officials.
Reportedly, the Russian Cargo planes delivered 16 helicopters, artillery and tanks two weeks ago.
In addition, aerial images from the surveillance satellite show newly installed modular housing for 2,000 troops, and 9 latest generations of Russian’s T-90 tanks. Giving that Asad’s army is using older models of Russian tanks, the image indicate that Russia is using its own soldiers and equipment, and not Syrian troops, as the Kremlin claimed before.
“The jets are ready to strike at any moment,” said a U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the intelligence. “There is nothing stopping them from delivering airstrikes at this point.”
With Russians and Chinese bombing from one and US led coalition from other side, ISIS has no chance for survival, unless it was never about putting an end to the terrorists’ organization in Syria.
According to some geo-political experts, we are at the eve of battle for Middle East between West and East. The only way U.S. can win this situation is to ease pressure to Russia, back of of Ukraine, leave the anti-Assad policy and really fight ISIS without arming the rebels.
Russia and China are exploiting the fact that U.S.-led coalition has been bombing Islamic State targets in Syria since September 2014, with very little success.
