Apple’s iPhone 6s Sales Exceed Expectations

(Newswire.net — October 23, 2015) — After just three days on store shelves, Apple sold 13 million units of the iPhone 6s. This quickly beat the 10 million devices sold during the iPhone 6’s opening weekend and set a new sales record.

The new model went on sale in 12 launch countries, including the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, Japan and China, at the end of September. The beginning of October then saw it go on sale in a further 40 countries, which will reach 130 countries by the end of the year.

Apple admitted that before the phones went on sale pre-orders had exceeded expectations and online orders for the day of release had all been filled.

In South Korea the iPhone 6s pre-orders sold out in minutes. One provider, KT, topped 10,000 orders within one minute and closed applications less than 10 minutes later after 50,000 preorders were claimed.

The iPhone’s design doesn’t really look all that different to its predecessor, (although it is available in the highly anticipated rose gold colour). However with this one it’s what is on the inside that counts, apparently. The new handset is generally faster than previous versions and the 3D touch screen has been hailed as a huge step forward. It also has more memory, a new 12 MP camera and a new 5MP front-facing camera, which uses the screen as a flash.

But, what is it about this particular release that has made it so successful?

There have been several reasons suggested for the early, record-breaking, success of the iPhone 6s, with one of the main reasons being China. The country, which is Apple’s biggest market, received the new model on launch day – in previous years this hasn’t been available to them until after the US launch date.

Other reasons included Apple sticking to the larger screen, strong reviews for iOS 9 and the new 3D touch being an extremely attractive feature.

The 3D touch – which responds to how hard a person presses on the screen – had intrigued many in the lead up to its launch. The ‘techies’ who care deeply about the latest and greatest technology would have been desperate to get their hands on such a feature.

However, as usual, there is much more to come from the technology giant that is Apple, because what is guaranteed is that they will continue to get bigger and better with each new product. There are always rumours about the next model, and it has already been hinted that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof, have a wraparound screen and sport an Intel chip.

Obviously, the one downside to each update is the problems that can come with it. However alongside this have come advancements in how they are fixed. With companies such as Lovefone being able to fix anything from the battery to the screen within the hour, we no longer have to feel lost for several days, if not weeks, as we send our phones off to be fixed.
