(Newswire.net — October 23, 2015) Centerville, UT — Do you need to conduct heater cleaning now? Well, it is a fact that many of you may have been lulled into a form of slumber after the simmering summer heat. You have perhaps forgotten that after the thrill, comes the chill. Anyway, the good friends we are, we have taken to alerting you of the cycle. You need to check, clean and repair your home heaters as you also clean your air duct. Fall is around the corner and sooner that you may notice, you will be right in the heart of winter. It is important to have a look at your HVAC System along with your heating systems because they may be a cause of your misery if left unattended.

Reduce the Cost

Did you know that an average home in the USA spends close to $ 3,000 dollars on heating needs every winter. Yet this cost could be significantly reduced if you became proactive and paid attention to some simple and easy to follow tips. We would like to start with fixing some habits that add cost to your life over the cold weather season. We would like to start with dealing with your heating system

Tune down the Heater Thermostat

Note that every click you make lowering your thermostat helps you save up to 2% of the cost of heating. We sometimes become a little paranoid about the winter weather and begin to over do some things. For instance, it is common for many families to tune up their heaters at over 73 degrees. This is unnecessary. Keep the temperature at around 63 degrees during winter. You will stay warm and save quite a significant amount of money. One way to help you out on the raising and lowering actions on your thermostat is to use an automated thermostat that is programmable. Such types go for around $50 but may be what you need to stop scratching your scalp for heightened heating bills over the winter period.  Remember to turn off the heater when the home is unoccupied or reducing it further down when people are asleep.

Heater maintenance

There is need to perform routine heater cleaning and even some air duct maintenance. After the summer season your heater may have accumulated some dirt. The air duct has almost certainly accrued some dust too. You need to conduct a routine and focused cleaning and maintenance for your heating systems now. This press release is done for the sake of awakening those of us who have a habit of waiting until the last minute to check out their cold weather mitigation equipment. You should do your heater cleaning now. Look at your air duct too since you need fresh air all the time.

Routine Maintenance

Note that if you undertook to maintain your heating and cooling systems, you will save well over 10% of what it costs you each year.  Get a professional to do a thorough heater cleaning job, and rest from the anxiety the cold season exerts on many families around the country. As a rule, all oil heating systems should be attended for servicing and cleaning each year. Gas systems should be serviced at least once in two years.

What Your Maintenance Agent Should Basically Attend To

•   Repair the thermostat and pilot light and ensure they work as intended

•   Check for leaks and cracks on the fuel pipes and fix or replace as needed

•   Conduct a test for energy usage efficiency. This test is to confirm how well your heating system converts the fuel used, to heat.other important reason for routine maintenance of your heating system is the fact that all combustion heating systems produce carbon monoxide in the course of heating. These levels must be checked lest they pose danger to your life and health. It is also important to change filters of a forced hot air system every month. This will guarantee you optimum performance of your heating system. Luckily that part of maintenance does not require expert knowledge. You can do it on your own.

Replace

If your heating system has served you for a couple of years, you may notice that it does not matter how much you run heater cleaning routines, the performance may be on its downward streak because the components are wearing out. If this is the state of your heater, make a point of replacing it. Otherwise, you will keep spending more for less.

Electric heaters

Electric heaters, like other frequently used tools and equipment need maintenance too. Here are some of the core equipment and tools you need to clean your electric heater.

•             Safety glasses

•             A drop cloth

•             A voltage detector

•             A bucket with soapy water plus a wash cloth

•             A small sized container

•             Dust mask

•             Flat head screw drivers, preferably from Philips

•             An air compressor or a vacuum cleaner that has a blower

The Steps

i.     Switch off the mains; confirm that they are off using a circuit detector

ii.    Remove grill. Unscrew slowly using the flat head screw driver. Be sure to be patient lest you break the thermostat knob.  We get calls from            panic stricken clients when they have broken the thermostat. Note that mistakes here may lead to a replacement of the whole system, or at          least, the thermostat.

iii.   Turn on the blower and blow out your heater.  Since some vacuum cleaners do not come with a blower option, you can make use of a hair              dryer. Ensure that you do not use canned hair since it is a safety hazard.

iv.    Do the grill cleaning now. Immerse the grill into the bucket with soapy water.  Continue with blowing off the dust as the grill soaks.

v.     Replace the grill. You must ensure that it is completely dry though; otherwise you risk starting off an electric fire.

As you replace the screws of the grill, screw them lightly. Overdoing it often causes damage to the body of the heater.

vi.    Turn the breaker on gain. Turn on the thermostat so that your heater heats up to the maximum then reduce to the normal level. This ensures         that it works properly. Listen out to any foreign sounds.
