(Newswire.net — October 29, 2015) — A new website designed to help concerned consumers learn more about the subject of personal identity theft is now ready to use.

The IdentityTheftHelp.com website has just launched with the purpose of providing information about how to recognize, prevent and recover from financial ID theft.

The site’s publisher, Maria DeMars, said that this new site has three purposes and the site is divided into three distinct sections. The first purpose is to offer advice about how individuals can protect their identity from being compromised.

The second is to provide tips that may help people discover if their identity has already been taken by someone who is using it for their own purposes.

And the third purpose of the website is to offer a list of suggested steps a person can take in order to start to recover from an ID theft incident.

Concern Over ID Theft

“There has been an increased awareness and concern by a lot of people over ID theft in the past few years,” stated DeMars, “Plenty of people are worried that someone is going to steal their identity.”

“Many people have questions in this area,” continued DeMars, “And even though some people are concerned about this issue, many don’t want to spend any real time on the details. They’re either too busy or they just don’t want to do the work themselves.”

“This is a serious topic, but most of the steps a person should take to help prevent financial fraud from happening to them are pretty basic things,” DeMars said, “You just have to remember to do a few things, and remember to not do a few other things. Unfortunately, there is realistically no way you can stop an experienced professional hacker from getting some of your personal and financial details if that person really wants to get them. But the odds that someone will single you out is one in a million.”

“I don’t think people have to overreact. People shouldn’t have to be afraid to use a credit card or use electronic media,” concluded DeMars, “You don’t have to go to any extremes in order to protect yourself. I think if you just are aware of the risks, follow some commonsense recommendations and you always take the necessary precautions, most individuals will be okay.”

DeMars mentioned that her site, as well as the FTC’s website, are free for anyone to use.
