(Newswire.net — December 15, 2015) — According to Egyptian authorities, so far, they haven’t been able to find any evidence of terrorism regarding the fall of the Russian passenger plane in October. These findings are quite opposite to Russian findings. Russian officials have stated that Metrojet Flight 9268 was downed by a bomb which was put in a soda can.
ISIS had already claimed it was responsible for the crash and that the explosive device had been put on the plane because of Russia’s ‘thoughtless decision’ to attack ISIS in Syria.
Ayman Al-Muqaddam, lead investigator says his “team has found nothing so far that indicates illegitimate interference or an act of terrorism”.
Moscow refused to give any comment on the newest report coming from Egypt. Russian state agency Tass quoted Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, who said:” I can recall the conclusion of our experts from the relevant agencies who arrived to the conclusion that it was a terrorist attack”.
Soon after the crash, Russian authorities were not at first so keen on a terrorist attack explanation, but that attitude changed in November when they declared that it was a 1kg bomb of TNT that had been detonated on the plane. A reward of 50 million dollars was offered to anyone who might give any valuable information regarding the plane crash.
Vladimir Putin, Russian president said:” This is not the first time Russia experiences barbaric terrorist crime, usually without any obvious internal or external causes, the way it was with the explosion at the railway station in Volgograd at the end of 2013. We remember everything and everyone”.
Also in November, on one of its online magazines, ISIS published a photograph of the alleged bomb. Explosive experts say that two pieces that looked like a switch and a detonator could be seen on it. The bomb was allegedly planted as a retaliation for the Russian attacks on ISIS.
As far as the Egyptians are concerned, the investigation is continuing. According to the statement, remains from the plane cover the area of 16 km from the crash site and all the computers from the jet were taken to Cairo for further investigation.
There were also European investigators who were involved in the analysis of the two flight recorders and they said that what downed the plane was an explosion which was not accidental.
President Obama said that Washington “is very seriously” considering that the plane was downed by a bomb.
All flights for Sharm El-Sheikh have been suspended from several countries, including Russia and the UK for security reasons, which only added to an ongoing decline of Egypt’s tourism.
” The reason the British government advised all airlines to stop flying to Sharm is that they believed there was a device in the hold of the Metrojet aircraft. They had inside intelligence giving them that information, so that’s not surprising to anybody in the airline industry, given that the British government took very strong action immediately. Clearly, that is why security has to be enhanced at Sharm El- Sheikh. We will not resume flying until we are told unequivocally by the government that it is safe to operate at Sharm El-Sheikh airport”, said Carolyn Mc Call, Chief Executive of the UK budget airline EasyJet.
Majority of victims were Russians who were on their way back from holiday.
So far, there is no news when the Egyptians are going to publish the final report on the plane crash.
