Denver Dr. Among Discover’s “Top Stories” For TBI Breakthrough Study

(Newswire.net — December 21, 2015) Lakewood, Colorado — Discover Magazine’s annual “Top Stories” of 2015 published this month includes a research study co-authored by Theodore Henderson, MD, PhD, Denver-based psychiatrist, neuroscientist and co-founder of Neuro-Laser Foundation. The breakthrough study ranked No. 19 on Discover’s list, which refers to the newfound ability of distinguishing between PTSD and TBI, and refining targeted treatments for both. The findings were published in two peer-reviewed journals PLOS One and Brain Imaging & Behavior.

This TBI study and Discover recognition is not even the best news, according to Dr. Henderson. 

Working with Neuro-Laser Foundation’s Dr. Larry Morries, Dr. Henderson has published two additional precedent-setting studies this year showing damaged brain cells can be regenerated using a patent-pending, high-powered near-infrared light (NILT). The study reported remarkable impact on the patients’ conditions, relieving or eliminating many of the symptoms.

“For the first time in medical history, we have answers for traumatic brain injury,” said Dr. Henderson, who explained the available treatments of PTSD and TBI are differ greatly. Moreover, the treatments for PTSD can be harmful, or at best, not helpful for those with TBI and vice versa. “The lives of our patients are going from the dark to the light, in more ways than one.”
