(Newswire.net — December 23, 2015) Seal Beach, CA — In the aftermath of natural disasters such as 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, the number surges higher. Yet according to a new article from the crowdfunding and pet adoption site “PoundWishes”, the number of lost pets would dramatically fall if pet parents took advantage of a technology that they use already in their cars and gadgets:
The new article, which is entitled “Matilda’s Story: A Lost Dog Gets a New Start and a Second Chance at Life” and available on PoundWishes’ website at http://poundwishes.com/arts/matilda.php, tells the tale of an English Bulldog puppy named Matilda, who earlier this year was discovered wandering the city streets by an animal control officer in Southern California.
Matilda was terrified, weakened by hunger and dehydration, covered in sores, and suffering from demodectic mange: a painful skin disease caused by mites. The alert and experienced animal control officer quickly brought Matilda to “Southern California Bulldog Rescue,” which is a shelter dedicated to helping abandoned and abused Bulldogs find forever homes.
As per the protocol followed by all credible animal rescue organizations and shelters, Southern California Bulldog Rescue waited as long as possible for Matilda’s pet parents to reach out and claim her — but the call never came. Fortunately, she was placed with a forever home last month, and her health problems have now completely healed.
“Matilda’s story is inspiring, and everyone involved should be commended: the quick-thinking animal control officer, the incredible team at Southern California Bulldog Rescue, and Matilda’s compassionate new pet parent, who we hear is overjoyed with the new addition to her family,” commented Curtis Taylor,
Added Taylor: “When combined with installing a microchip with updated information, and using ID tags with full addresses rather than just names,

About PoundWishes
PoundWishes is a dynamic and interactive crowdfunding and adoption platform for pet rescues and shelters, and for those who are willing to help. The nonprofit organization is the dream of Mckenzi Taylor, who was diagnosed with leukemia as a young child and granted a “Princess for a Weekend” wish by the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Her experience with illness and the support she received inspired her to help others. In early 2014 Mckenzi found her calling while visiting a shelter and seeing first-hand the helplessness and need of the animals. She asked her dad why they don’t have a Make-a-Wish for dogs, and PoundWishes was born.
